Same-Day Eye Appointments

Eyes have terrible timing. They pick the morning of a big meeting to turn red, or the first day of vacation to feel like there is sand in them. (Around here, there sometimes is.) When something can’t wait three weeks for an opening, call us. Siegmund Eye Care offers same-day appointments, and we’ll do our best to see you today.

How to get seen today

Call (843) 796-1155 as early in the day as you can. For anything urgent, the phone beats the online form, because a real person can look at the schedule while you’re on the line and tell you what’s open.

We’re open Monday through Thursday from 8:30am to 5pm and Friday from 8:30am to 1pm. Friday is a short day, so on a Friday morning, call sooner rather than later. If your problem can wait a day or two, you can also request a time online.

Good reasons to call today

Not sure if it counts? Call anyway. We would much rather hear from you early than late.

When to act right now

A few situations shouldn’t wait for an appointment at all. A chemical splash is a true emergency: flush the eye with clean water or saline for at least 15 minutes and get care immediately. A sudden loss of vision, or a curtain or shadow moving across what you see, can signal a retinal problem and needs urgent attention. Call us right away, and if we’re closed, go to the emergency room. Our guide to eye emergencies walks through what to do in each case.

What happens at a same-day visit

You’ll see one of our doctors, Dr. Jason Siegmund or Dr. Cyndi Siegmund-Drenth. Both are trained to diagnose and treat eye disease, not just write prescriptions, so a sudden problem gets a proper medical look. The office has an OCT retinal camera, a retinal imaging system and computerized testing equipment, which means we can examine the back of the eye during the same visit. Here’s the equipment we use.

If the visit ends with a new prescription, our in-house lab can often have your glasses ready the same day, as long as your lenses are in stock. More on same-day glasses.

What to bring

Vision insurance and health insurance cover different things. Routine exams usually fall under vision plans, while an injured or infected eye is medical care. Our insurance page explains the difference, or just ask when you call.

Frequently asked questions

Can new patients get a same-day appointment?

Yes. Same-day appointments are open to new and existing patients. Call (843) 796-1155 and we will do our best to see you that day.

What is the fastest way to get seen today?

Call as early in the day as you can. The phone is faster than the online form for anything urgent, because the front desk can check the schedule while you are on the line.

What counts as an eye emergency?

A chemical splash, a sudden loss of vision, a curtain or shadow across your sight, a sudden burst of new floaters or flashes, or a hard blow to the eye all need prompt attention. For a chemical splash, flush the eye with clean water or saline for at least 15 minutes and get care right away.

What are your office hours?

Monday through Thursday from 8:30am to 5pm, and Friday from 8:30am to 1pm. We are closed Saturday and Sunday.
